Glyndwr
Vineyard is the oldest established and family run vineyard in
Wales. |
Planted
by Richard and Susan Norris in 1982, the estate comprises some
6,000 |
vines grown on gently south-east facing slopes in the
heart of the beautiful |
Vale of
Glamorgan. The vines are grown
on the traditional double Guyot |
system. |
| |
Richard
and Susan are passionate about their wines and have won many |
awards. The vineyard is producing three white wines, a rose, a
red and a |
vintage sparkling wine. The wines have graced many a
fine table from |
European State banquets to the House of Lords! |
| |
Glyndwr
Vineyard is proud of its environmentally friendly history,
where |
chickens, ducks and wild pheasants roam about, hedges
are left to grow wild |
to encourage birdlife and the vines are
treated with organic material. |
| |
The
lovely gardens have been open to the National Garden Scheme, and |
there
are ponds, woodland areas and quite a number of old British apple |
trees. |
| |
Amongst the gardens is situated the stunningly pretty Bed and
Breakfast, and |
underneath the farmhouse is the cellar, where the wines
quietly mature. |
